|artistic policy||The National Youth Theatre of Wales has a distinctive style and a unique way of working, capitalising upon a number of key elements that have increased its stature, distinction and ambition in recent years.
The Youth Theatre has a growing reputation for creating theatre that can delight, provoke, excite, challenge and inspire.
"Boldness is the friend of the youthful company, enthusiasm its hallmark and a welcome dash of irreverence the spice that hones its cutting edge". [Western Mail]
The NYTW plays a vital role in the provision of progressive and artistically challenging theatre experiences, which enhance and extend the youth theatre opportunities that are available locally.
Founded in 1976, the National Youth Theatre of Wales is now an outstanding showcase for theatrical talent from Wales.
The Welsh Joint Education Committee (WJEC) has undertaken the central management and administrative functions of the Youth Theatre since 1990.
|other notes||Greg Cullen was appointed artistic director for NYTW in 2003. Frida and Diego – a love story, his inaugural production for NYTW, won Best Production Design Award at the Theatre-in-Wales Awards that same year. For 2004, Greg wrote and directed Whispers in the Woods/Sibrydion, a contemporary take on the traditional fairy story.
