| Currently, Robert is directing The Savonarola Debate in Florence, Italy, a National Tour of a new anti-slavery documentary play Am I Not a Man and a Brother and King Macbeth for National Tour. He was also recently Associate Director on the national Tour of The Naked Truth starring Lisa Riley amongst others. As a freelance director, Robert has worked at the Yvonne Arnaud Guildford, Stephen Joseph Scarborough, Bolton Octagon, Southwark Playhouse, Oxford Playhouse and Aberystwyth Arts Centre on productions ranging from working with Alan Ayckbourn on his play Sugar Daddies (National No 1 Tour) and Harvest (devised), Some Enchanted Evening and Romeo and Juliet. He has enjoyed directing the musicals Merrily We Roll Along, and Singinı in the Rain. Most of Robertıs work from 2001 to 2006 was with the New Vic Theatre, Stoke and was Associate Director (Borderlines). Robert directed or assisted on over twenty five productions for mainstage, studio and the internationally acclaimed Borderlines department. Work there included Some Enchanted Evening, Stealing Dreams, Fight for Shelton Bar (also adaptation), Face It, and assisted on the Tour of Carmen and Outside Edge. He is also Artistic Director of his own company, Reveal Theatre where he has produced and directed productions in the Midlands, London and touring including Sticks and Stones, The Most Dangerous Man in England, Hitting Town, Trench Kiss, Two, the documentary play On The Home Front, Charleyıs Aunt and Teechers. Robert has written and directed numerous productions for New Vic Theatre, Queens Theatre Stoke on Trent, Stiwt Theatre Wrexham, Compass Theatre, Ickenham, DGO and Courtyard Theatre, Belfast and last Christmas directed Beauty and the Beast (Crewe Lyceum/WISH Theatre). This Christmas he will direct Jack and the Beanstalk with Lynne McGranger (Irene in Home and Away). Robert has directed at Drama Schools and Universities in London, Wales, Manchester. He also is a Guest Lecturer in Drama Practice (Acting and Directing) at Staffordshire University. Writing has included A Sense of (re)Direction and The Story of Mrs M (New Vic) and The Most Dangerous Man in England. He is a member of the Directors Guild of Great Britain and has had articles published in The Sunday Times, Direct magazine and The Stage and has worked for BBC Radio 4 Drama. |
