Theatr Iolo have been nominated for Best Show for Children & Young People and Emyr John has been nominated for Best Actor for his role in Bison & Sons at the Annual Tron Awards. Artistic Director, Kevin Lewis, will be heading to the famous Tron Theatre in Glasgow, which recognises and celebrates new writing and quality theatre for people of all ages.

For the second year running, Theatr Iolo has been invited to perform at Imaginate, the International Festival for Children’s Theatre in Edinburgh.

The Festival offers the most international theatre for children & young people of any arts event in the UK, performing to over 10,000 children and hundreds of delegates from around the world. In 2004, performances included 13 award-winning productions from Canada, The Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Wales, England and Scotland.

Theatr Iolo’s production of the Dutch play Bison & Sons by Pauline Mol, translated by Rina Vergano met with rave reviews from critics and audience alike. The company were invited to tour Scotland with performances in Glasgow, Inverness and the Shetland Islands.

This year, the company will be taking Are We There Yet? to the festival, which has already had performances in Finland, Belgium and Austria. Directed by Sarah Argent, this show for 3 to 5 year-olds enthralled children in nurseries in both North and South Wales.

Theatr Iolo is currently working on another European text. The Flock, by Jesper Wamsler and translated by Sarah Argent, is performing to schools in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. After seeing this new play in Denmark last year, the company secured the rights to commission a translation for performances in the UK. High schools in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan will be hosting nearly 50 performances of The Flock this term.

Danish author Jesper Wamsler will be visiting schools in Cardiff, to see this new version of his play, which is also being translated into German.
