NoFit State Circus winners of two Edinburgh Fringe Festival Awards and then some!

After a close to sell-out Spring and Summer tour, taking in a wide and diverse range of cities in the UK, the No Fit State Circus production of ImMortal2 played in Edinburgh for three weeks as part of the 2005 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Seen by over 10,000 people, ImMortal2 was awarded two prestigious fringe festival awards last weekend:

Winner: The Tap Water Awards 2005
Winner: Editors Choice, Threeweeks – Guardian Unlimited.
Shortlisted and Highly Commended: Total Theatre Awards 2005.

The Tap Water Awards are the alternative to the Perrier Awards that are usually only given to comedians. The Tap Water Awards are presented across the wide range of performance genres – music, dance, theatre, opera etc – and this year celebrate their fifth birthday.

Since Perrier’s takeover by Nestle, many previous Perrier winners now feel that its poor ethical record can’t be shrugged off simply by sponsoring an award. The Tap Water Awards were born from a spontaneous boycott of the Perrier awards in 2001. Five years on, Fringe performers in their hundreds have recognised the necessity of an ethical route to recognition, turning their backs on the Perrier and all the fortune it can bottle.

Following Nestle’s takeover of Perrier, Perrier Award Winner Emma Thompson and 1992 winner Steve Coogan have both called for the Nestle boycott to be upheld.

Threeweeks.co.uk is the Edinburgh attenders bible: published by the Guardian, it allows people to review productions they have seen and also sends out a team of reviewers to see as many of the 1800 performances as possible at the Edinburgh Fringe.

ImMortal2 is now heading to Catalonia to headline the Tarrega Festival next week, prior to returning to the UK for a three week run in Potters Field, London – site of the Glass Box Illusion by David Blaine.

ImMortal2 has received rave reviews from both the UK media and attenders alike during its six month UK tour. Tickets are on sale now for the London Performances which run from 17 September until 2 October.
