Fresh from touring the highly regarded Y Pair, Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru will be making a return to Carmarthen’s Lyric, 9-10 June with Siwan, a historical drama. They’ll be rolling back the years to Medieval times where the Normans ransacked and ravaged the Welsh and the only way out was through a marriage of ‘convenience’. But with the arranged marriage of Wales’ ruler Llywelyn the Great to Joan (or Siwan), the daughter of King John of England, comes betrayal, deceit and ultimately death for one of the parties involved. A gripping tale in the Welsh language with Ffion Dafis as Siwan. Tickets are priced £8 - £10. Historical tales of another kind gallop into Llanelli’s Theatr Elli as the ‘Welsh Robin Hood’ Twn Siôn Cati rides again, July 2. Cwmni Theatr Arad Goch will be presenting their version of events marking the life of this crafty and captivating criminal who outwitted his enemies and became the folk hero of Tregaron in this fast-paced production. Be sure not to miss out! Tickets are priced £3.

The music programme gets into full swing in June with the Carmarthenshire Music Service’s evening at the Lyric, 11-12 June. Full details are yet to be announced, while tickets are available now from the box office, £2.50 - £5. An Evening Of Song with Llanelli’s very own, National Eisteddfod-winning, youth choir Lleisiau Hardd and guests. Boasting a varied repertoire that covers classical, folk, gospel and musical theatre, it’s easy to see why the ensemble live up to their moniker, which when translated reads ‘beautiful voices’. They’ll be lighting up the night, 12 June at Llanelli’s Theatr Elli. Tickets are £6. Fans of the late, great John Lennon will not be disappointed when IMAGINE: The Tribute brings the magic of the man who inspired thousands to Theatr Elli, 20 July. Carmarthenshire Theatres and Cadno Music (Cymru) Ltd have got together to host an unforgettable homage, featuring Australia-based, world-renown tribute artist Marcus Cahill as John Lennon.
