Spectacle Theatre announce 'Agor Drysau' International Theatre Festival

'Agor Drysau' is an International Theatre Festival in which theatre companies from France, Denmark, Wales, Belgium and Italy will be taking part to perform for children, young people and families in Wales.

Since its inception, Spectacle Theatre have always been invited to participate in the Festival, which itself is held in and around Aberystwyth. Recently there has been a desire for the visiting companies to also perform their work further afield - so with the support of Rhondda Cynon Taf Cultural Services, the Venues and the Arts Council of Wales Community Touring Scheme, Spectacle have created the 'Agor Drysau International Festival of Theatre for Young Audiences in Rhondda Cynon Taf'.

The Company are pleased to announce that they will be hosting two of the participating International Theatre Companies during the week beginning Monday, March 31st at venues throughout Rhondda Cynon Taf.

'Envelopes and Packages' is presented by Velo Theatre, and follows the postman as he takes you on a magical mystery tour full of fantasy and adventure. 'Envelopes and Packages' is suitable for 6 - 12 year olds and is being performed at Cwmaman Institute on Monday 31st March 2003. R.C.T. Arts Development Unit will also be hosting 2 performances at the Muni Arts Centre on Tuesday 1st April 2003.

Graine de Malice will be performing 'The Emperor's New Clothes' - an old tale told in a new way in a charming production from France. 'The Emperor's New Clothes' is suitable for 7 - 10 year olds and is being performed at Cwmparc Community Association on Tuesday 1st April, and at Pontypridd College on Wednesday 2nd April 2003.

Both productions will be performed in English.

This year, Spectacle will be performing the 'The Lazy Ant' at Agor Drysau, which is a colourful, funny story of an ant who thinks she works too hard. 'The Lazy Ant' is a play with music, song and dance especially created for children aged 5 - 7. The production will also be touring during February and March and is an absolute 'must see'.

"A marvellous piece of musical theatre…funny, scary, involving, imaginative and engaging, as fine an introduction to the power of the dramatic art as you could want". David Adams
