CAITLIN at the Hay festival and Edinburgh Fringe

The Sherman Theatre Company's latest production, CAITLIN - a play about Dylan Thomas' wife - is set to perform at two world renowned festivals this summer. After the success of performances in New York and Cardiff earlier this year, CAITLIN will perform at The Hay Festival at the end of May and The Edinburgh Fringe from the beginning of August. It will also embark on a national tour of Wales including dates in Cardiff, Swansea, Mold and Aberystwyth.

By invitation of the National assembly of Wales, CAITLIN, was performed in a number of venues in New York earlier this year to help raise the profile of Wales and Welsh culture across the Atlantic. It will now be presented at the Hay Literature Festival on 28th May where it will play to worldwide festival attenders in the Grant Thornton Marquee. The show will then embark on its tour of Wales before going to The Edinburgh Fringe Festival where it will play at The Gilded Balloon from the 1st August.

Inspired by the writings of Caitlin Thomas, Mike Kenny has created a one woman show which reveals the tempestuous relationship enjoyed by the legendary Dylan Thomas and his wife. From their time together in Soho, London and the Boat House in Laugharne through to their drunken days in New York, CAITLIN reveals a unique perspective on the life of Wales' most famous export.

Swansea based actress Helen Griffin will be performing the one woman show under the direction of Phil Clark - Artistic Director of The Sherman. As well as establishing a career as an actress Helen has written several plays for BBC Radio 4 and Radio Wales and two plays for The Sherman, which were subsequently televised for HTV. Her stage play FLESH & BLOOD toured Wales in 2001 and then transferred to the Hampstead Theatre, London. She is currently writing for NIGHT & DAY, Granada TV's soap and is under commission to the Hampstead & Soho Theatres, London.

Tickets for the Cardiff performances (Tues 10th - Sat 14th June at 8pm) and information about tour dates are available from the Box Office on 029 2064 6900.
