Get Writing - BBCi

Get Writing is a new initiative from BBCi aimed at developing new writers. BBC Learning has teamed up with BBC One's Canterbury Tales and BBC Radio 4 to offer 5 individuals the opportunity to have a story inspired by the Canterbury Tales, ready on the radio.

The competition opens on the 11th September 2003 and is open to applicants over 16 years of age and a resident in the UK. Entrants must also be unpublished and not previously had their work transmitted by the BBC.

Competition entries must be original and unpublished and must be between 1900 and 2000 words in length. A questionnaire must be submitted, which will be available from the website from the 11th of September along with the applicants contact details.

The entries will be judged by BBC executives and the winning entries will be selected on their diversity and how effectively they incorporate the themes of The Canterbury Tales.

Other developments in the pipeline include an interactive writing course written by published authors and the development of an online community to support participants.
