synopsis:
July 1789. The eve of the revolution, 237 women, locked up in prisons all over Britain and convicted for prostitution and minor crimes are sentenced to seven years’ transportation beyond the Seas. Their ship is known as the floating brothel. The city that grew from their labour and offspring will be called Sidney, Australia. This is the story of an extraordinary group of women and their voyage half way around the world.
