Whose Coat is That Jacket?

Frapetsus Productions , Grand Theatre Swansea , September-21-12
Whose Coat is That Jacket? by Frapetsus Productions As the title suggests, the new play from Frapetsus Productions pokes plenty of fun at some unique Welsh peculiarities, with fantastic results. The comedy focuses on a South Wales-based, rugby-loving family who must all adapt to changes as exam results loom for the youngest son, Bleddyn.

With a sitcom feel and plenty of believable banter, the audience were treated to many chuckles and regular big laughs coming mainly from jokes about rugby, family life and sex. However it was not all fun and games, as later in the play we witnessed a potential family breakdown and relationship breakup.

The chemistry between the cast was brilliant, with a genuine family feeling which made the jokes funnier and the serious scenes more dramatic. Ieuan Rhys and Sara Harris-Davies played the lovable parents Dai and Angharad, who knit the family together, while Terri Dwyer (ex-Hollyoaks and Loose Women) played Ruth; the English 'foreigner' among the severely Welsh family. She linked very well with Jack Llewellyn as Rhodri, who also wrote the comedy. Finally, demanding the biggest laughs and certainly receiving them with their loud, laddish characters were Ceri Phillips and Rhys Wadley.

With an open ending and a sequel planned for next year, we can look forward to more from this enjoyable family.
