LEADERS of arts organisations in Wales believe the country is in danger of being relegated to the second-division of arts and culture, due to a lack of investment by the Government. Janek Alexander, director of Cardiff-based Chapter Arts Centre, and Chris Ryde, of the Wales Association of the Performing Arts, have called on members of the National Assembly to push for more money for the arts in Wales. Their comments come just days after the announcement that the Government is ploughing more than £100m extra into the arts in England in a bid to boost regional theatre and get children involved.
