BRITAIN’s top playwrights have written to the National Assembly in protest at the decision by Arts Council of Wales to cut funding for new theatre writing in Wales. Writers including Alan Ayckbourn, Willy Russell, Tom Stoppard, Carol Churchill and Christopher Hampton are writing to Cynog Dafis, chair of the Assembly’s arts policy review committee.
