Following its sell-out success at Swansea`s Grand Theatre Arts Wing last September, Fluellen Theatre Company is delighted to announce that its production of TOSHACK OR ME! transfers to the Grand Theatre main auditorium for two performances on January 19th & 20th.Written by local playwright Peter Read, TOSHACK OR ME! tells the hilarious story of Dave, a fanatic supporter of his beloved Swansea City Football Club. It is the early 1980s and these are heady days for followers of the Swans as they stand on the threshold of First Division glory under the management of John Toshack. Dave`s wife, Holly, can`t stand football, however, and an ultimatum is made. Dave, though, has a valuable ally in the local vicar, a man who cuts short sermons in order to get to away matches and who refuses to marry a couple when he discovers that the prospective groom is a Cardiff City supporter! Holly tries to elicit support from her friend Sarah, but discovers that compulsive behaviour is not exclusive to footy fans. Swansea`s own Kevin Johns stars as the eccentric Vicar Joe. Well known to South Wales audiences for his long-running breakfast show on Swansea Sound. He has also built a great following for his succession of grotesque and hilarious Dames in Grand Theatre pantos. Also in the cast are George Andrews, Eloise Howe, Rhodri Miles, Jessica Sandry and Charlotte Rogers and the play is directed by Fluellen`s Artistic Director Peter Richards. TOSHACK OR ME! is a play that will appeal equally to football fans and football haters. Of course, it will be a delight to those who are Swans fans still nostalgic for the great days of the 80s, but it`s also a great night out for those who are less than enthusiastic about football, are a bit iffy about marriage, and have yet to make up their minds about Abba!
