![]() Best known as a fashion model and the former wife of Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, Jerry Hall, who has previously appeared in The Vagina Monologues has also appeared sporadically in feature films. The tall, cool blonde made her acting debut with a small role in Willie and Phil in 1980. Her largest role was that of Alicia, the moll to crime boss Carl Grissom in Tim Burton's Batman (1989). She's also been setting the London stage alight, even earning the world record for the most theatre appearances in one night for Les Misérables, Phantom of the Opera, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Blood Brothers and Anything Goes. The Vagina Monologues has been critically applauded receiving prestigious nominations for Drama Desk and Obie awards in 1999 in New York, and a nomination for the 2002 Olivier Award for Best Entertainment. The show is a global phenomenon with multiple productions in over 25 countries and open-ended runs in New York and Paris. Sex has never been funnier or more poignant than in this collection of highly original stories gathered by the show’s dynamic creator, New Yorker, Eve Ensler. Ensler asked over 200 women of all ages, ethnic backgrounds and walks of life to share their most intimate secrets in ‘vagina interviews’ on such normally taboo topics as birth, sex, orgasms and relationships with truly revelatory results. As sharp and witty as Sex and the City, as unmissable as Friends and as funny as Smack the Pony, the show is performed by three amazing women who appear on stage together throughout the evening. Some of the world’s most successful women have taken part in The Vagina Monologues around the world including Kate Winslet, Glenn Close, Gillian Anderson, Whoopi Goldberg, Mel B, Sharon Osbourne, Dannii Minogue, Ruby Wax, Lisa Stansfield, Sophie Dahl, Mariella Frostrup, Honor Blackman, and Maureen Lipman. Casting for the 2007 tour will include Natalie Cassidy (Eastenders), Sue Holderness (Only Fools and Horses), comedienne Rhona Cameron, Lesley Joseph (Birds of a Feather) and Claire King (Bad Girls, Strictly Come Dancing). See website for specific venue casting -www.vaginamonologues.com. Every performance of The Vagina Monologues will donate a portion of ticket sales to the V-day fund, an organisation that provides charitable aid to women and girls who have been victims of abuse and violence. Since May 2001 the West End & touring production of The Vagina Monologues has donated in excess of £250,000 to local charities. |
