BELSHAZZAR’S FEAST

An exciting opportunity for 120 community singers to sing with the WNO chorus and orchestra conducted by Carlo Rizzi.
Belshazzar’s Feast by William Walton is a dramatic and imposing piece of choral music. It will be performed at the Donald Gordon Theatre, Wales Millennium Centre on Saturday 26 May and Sunday 3 Jun 2007 and Birmingham Hippodrome on Saturday 23 June 2007.
You need to:
Be 16 or over
Attend an audition in January or February, where you will be asked to sing a song of your choice accompanied by piano.
Have a high level o commitment to attend rehearsals on Tuesday evenings and Sundays through March, April and May 2007
Be available for the performances
FEAST
This is a great opportunity to enjoy the blast of singing in a big choir of up to 200 voices in glorious harmony and to high standard. Feast will be a joyous, fun and touching experience.
Although music will be given out, there is no need to be able to read music as you will learn by ear. The songs will be mainly in three parts from the beautiful Georgian folk tradition from the Caucus Mountains.
You need:
A love of singing
Enthusiasm
To be 16 or older, or over 10 if accompanied by an adult.
To attend a taster session on the 2nd or 3rd of February to meet the team and hear the music
To be available for rehearsals on some Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from late February until the performance on Sunday 3 June 2007 in the foyer of the Wales Millennium Centre.
