![]() It says a great deal for the quality of the staff and the tuition at the college that there was not one weak moment throughout the whole of the showcase. Every performer demonstrated the self-confidence and talent to walk into a professional production the moment they walk out of the college door. It was a very smoothly, well-lit and stage-managed presentation with each student having to captivate our attention in less than three minutes. Youthful vigour, intelligence and humour of every kind were set out to captivate the large audience of agents, producers, directors and other students and they most certainly did. There was plenty of sex, good sex, bad sex, and sex in the Welsh language. There was some quiet philosophy, lots of deadpan and some ironic humour. Some were up front and in your face others went for sensitivity and others gave us a touch of the enigmatic and self-deprecation. All accomplished with great flourish and charm. Each artist possessed an engaging personality and all were able to show enchanting story telling ability. It’s a tough highly competitive world they will be entering into. Wales has within its borders an abundance of talented actors, those students that stay will be welcomed into their midst, those that move away will I’m sure find their own paths into what is one of the most difficult yet most rewarding career to follow. The showcase will also be held at the Library Theatre in Manchester on Wednesday 21st February and at the Royal Court Theatre in London on Thursday the 22nd.
