A chance to see Theatr Iolo’s latest work for Secondary Schools,
Hazey Jane by Nick Wood.
Public performances:
Wednesday 14th March, 7pm at Llanover Hall Arts Centre, Canton, Cardiff
Thursday 15th March, 6pm in the drama studio, Whitchurch High School, Cardiff
Shaun and Jane are in year 13. She’s new to the school. He thinks he knows it all. They discover they have a lot to learn from each other. The play traces their developing relationship as they face leaving school and stepping into the future.
Nick Wood and Kevin Lewis met at the ASSITEJ World Festival of Theatre for Children and Young People in Montreal. The company had already secured the rights for his play Warrior Square, which toured to schools from September to November 2006 and after meeting in Montreal, Nick and Kevin began developing ideas for a new play.
It began with this image of a boy sitting on a chair in a room – writing in a notebook. This simple image became the story of a relationship between Shaun and Jane.
