BALLET, BARATANATYAM AND CONTEMPORARY DANCE FUSED AT THE RIVERFRONT

BALLET, BARATANATYAM AND CONTEMPORARY DANCE FUSED AT THE RIVERFRONT Don't miss STRETCH, a show choreographed by Newport’s Madhvi Dalal and Patricia Vallis. STRETCH is where Ballet, Bharatanatyam and Contemporary dance styles are fused to form a universal dance language. They will be working with five dancers to stage the show at The Riverfront on 17 March at 7.30pm.
Even new creations have boundaries. They are encaged within limitations which constrict the natural flow of physical and natural expression. To evolve and improve these, one must stretch the body and mind beyond these restrictions. Sometimes, this expansion reaches breaking point and beyond, generating a new idiom; hence re-creating.

Inspired by their traditional roots, Madhvi and Patricia Vallis have integrated their dance techniques into one structure. Intricate movements and inspirational costumes keep the fluidity of this dance structure into a finite form, yet it is tantalizingly malleable and pliable enough to extend in whichever direction the choreographers decide to shape. Against a dramatic backdrop of imagery suffused with bizarre passion, the coalesced rhythmic choreography implodes within itself.

Through precise and enigmatic movements, the dancers make this unique amalgamated structure explode onto the stage in all directions creating an exhilarating visual feast. Tickets cost £6.50 with reductions available. Please call the Box Office on 01633 656757 for details.
