![]() This year DAW is offering a choice of two courses… ONE-ACTMANSHIP tutored by Phil Clark The One Act play is to the full length drama what a short story is to a novel. Both disciplines demand a secure structure and a strong command of the craft. This course will explore the structure of the one act play and expose how plot, structure and characterisation along with a demand for satisfying drama are essential ingredients for the creation of a short, complete but beautifully theatrical experience. This will be a very practical course where we will examine a number of texts and work towards a presentation of the material by the end of the week. There will be the opportunity for participants to explore the texts as both actors and directors. …or… PLAYING COMEDY tutored by Chris Morgan Are you getting your laughs? If not, why not? We all enjoy comedy in theatre and it’s sometimes mistakenly seen as an easy option. But it can be so difficult to get right. Working in detail with extracts from a selection of comedy scripts, you will analyse and explore a range of comedy styles and writers of comic theatre. The course will give you the opportunity to develop your approach to comedy and improve your comic skills through this week-long practical rehearsal process. Accommodation is in single rooms with an en-suite option available. The courses are suitable for all levels of skill and experience – just bring your enthusiasm, an open mind and be prepared to learn and enjoy. The Drama Association of Wales Theatre Summer School offers a safe and nurturing environment in which to express your creativity through theatre. Our flexible pricing structure means that you can book on to this course for as little as just £350 And that includes tuition, accommodation and all meals For full course details contact: Gary Thomas Drama Association of Wales The Old Library, Singleton Road, Cardiff CF24 2ET (T) 029 2045 2200 (E) aled.daw@virgin.net supported by the Arts Council of Wales and the Welsh Assembly Government |
