![]() Starring Richard Hogger, director of Creu Cymru (The Touring Agency of Wales) as ageing, fragile actor-manager "Sir" and South-African born international designer, stage manager and performer Stu-Art James as the eponymous dresser, Norman, with principal support from Julie McNicholls as Sir's wife, the redoubtable "Her Ladyship", this tale of a small company's anxiety at the failing health of their figurehead on the night of his 227th performance as King Lear mixes the very best of British drama and comedy. Loosely based on the author's own experiences, this promises to be a highly satisfying and entertaining evening of solid, traditional theatre. Says Harry Durnall "I am delighted to have been able to assemble such a talented, experienced cast for this production, which holds a very special place in my heart since the time of my directing its first provincial production in the 1980s. Audiences of all ages, and especially those for whom good writing and good entertainment remains at the very heart of a great night at the theatre, will enjoy its rich blend of laughter and tears, pain and joy. Expect to be moved, expect the unexpected, but above all, expect to relive something of the spark which today's theatre is in danger of losing." The run commences on May 17th at Aberystwyth Arts Centre.
