![]() It is a beautiful story of a love affair during the Battle of Britain and its effects 60 years on. Gary was inspired to write the piece after hearing a woman describe events in the summer of 1940 during a radio broadcast, in the small hours of the morning. Gary’s previous credits include The Drowned World (which won the 2002 George Devine Award) and Crazy Gary’s Mobile Disco. Gary was also the winner of the Arts Council England 2003 Meyer-Whitworth Award for new writing for the theatre. The play stars Angela Down, recently seen in the West End in Summer and Smoke and Gawn Grainger who has just co-starred with Felicity Kendal in Amy’s View at the Garrick. Completing the cast are two young actors making their stage debuts – Amy Hall (who studied at University of Wales Swansea) and Paul Woodson. We That Are Left is the first play that Brigid will direct since becoming Artistic Director at the Palace. The creative team working with her are Designer Hannah Clarke (Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf? Royal Exchange, Big Love The Gate): Lighting Designer James Farncombe (Crooked The Bush, Sing Yer Heart Out For The Lads on tour) and Sound Designer Jason Barnes (Enjoy Watford Palace). We That Are Left has a limited, two week run at Watford Palace Theatre from 19 April to 5 May. Tickets are available from the Box Office on 01923 225671 or online at www.watfordpalacetheatre.co.uk |
