Caught in The Net

...The fiasco surrounding the Arts Council of Wales's (ACW) rapidly changing drama strategy is also being influenced by the Internet, but in an entirely different way. While the ACW persists in sending out press statements celebrating its funding awards and patting itself on the back for opening its Council meetings to the public, many of the less celebrated issues are being spectacularly revealed on a website set up by those who are disillusioned, demoralised and despairing at what the Independent Theatre Council describes as ACW's continual "failure to consider artists' and practitioners' needs".
The site is at www.cambria.demon.co.uk/theatr/ [that was the old address of this web site...KM]. It's a fascinating read
Knowledge has always been power, but in the information age, that power is set to return o 'the people'. So whilst some in the industry may fear that Tickets.com and ACW hold all their respective cards, it will be everyone's fault, given the empowering nature of the Internet, if they get to play them all at our expense
