Horizons international line-up boasts Icelandic Duo questioning relationship between Man and Machines. Chapter hosts its second show as part of the Horizons Dance Festival on Tuesday 5 June (8pm) as it welcomes internationally acclaimed Erna Ómarsdóttir and Jóhann Jóhnnson to present their new production IBM 1401 – a User’s Manual.

IBM 1401 – a User’s Manual is a meditation on the complex relationship between man and the machines he creates. A collaboration between Icelandic duo musician Jóhann Jóhannsson and dancer/choreographer Erna Ómarsdóttir, the performance is based around the story of the first computer to come to Iceland in 1964, and is set to music based on a looped passage from an old Icelandic hymn.

Erna Ómarsdóttir has worked as a dancer with various companies and choreographers and her recent work, including IBM 1401 – a user’s manual, has been performed all over Europe. Erna had part in establishing Ekka dance theatre in Reykjavik in 1996, and has twice received Griman; the Icelandic theatre and dance prize in 2003 and 2005.

Jóhann Jóhannsson is an Icelandic musician, composer, producer and an active member of the country’s artistic community (he is the founder of the Kitchen Motors label / think tank / art collective, founder member of Apparat Organ Quartet and also as a serial collaborator). Jóhann Jóhannsson has been collaborating with Erna Ómarsdóttir for several years.

Tickets for this fantastic show are available from Chapter box office priced at £10 / £8 / £6 on 029 2030 4400 or book online @ www.chapter.org
