Under the Carpet

Under the Carpet A new play for the very young
directed by Sarah Argent

at Aberystwyth Arts Centre 2.30 pm Sunday 10th June, 2007

Don’t miss this opportunity to see “Under the Carpet”, an intimate performance for the very young created by Sarah Argent and performed by Steve Hickman and Iwan Tudor with music by Jak Poore and design by Charlotte Neville.

Nonno and Lol have lived together for a long, long time. They love finding and telling stories – they find stories in their heads, they find stories under the carpet, they find stories in the washbasket, in fact, they find stories in everything around them. But one day, Nonno can’t find a story anywhere ……

Inspired by stories told to Theatr Iolo by nursery children in South Wales, ‘Under the Carpet’ is an enchanting performance with music which transports the audience to a world of friendship and arguments, washing and stories.

An enchanting performance which thoroughly delighted both the children and the adults in the nursery class. The children were engaged throughout, their reactions were a delight to observe.

Our nursery children thoroughly enjoyed it and were transfixed. We were so pleased by some of the children’s reactions, in particular the children that very rarely speak.

Michael Kelligan, Theatre in Wales website

“Wow!... the nursery children were spell-bound by the magical performance from Theatr Iolo!!”
