Culture Minister Supports Welsh Pavilion in Venice Biennale

Culture Minister Supports Welsh Pavilion in Venice Biennale The Welsh Assembly Government’s Minister for Education, Culture and Welsh Language has sent a message of support to the artists and organisers of the Wales Pavilion at Europe’s premier art exposition, the Venice Biennale, which opens this week.

Carwyn Jones, Minister for Education, Culture and Welsh Language said:

"Wales’s presence at the Biennale is very important for the artists that are selected, and for the image of Wales as a country that seeks to promote its contemporary culture worldwide."

“The Venice Biennale is a key international initiative for Wales, and the partnership between the Arts Council of Wales and the Welsh Assembly Government is an excellent example of how we can work more closely to achieve our vision of Wales as a culturally vibrant nation.”

“Wales has been at the forefront of making the Venice Biennale a place for nations to be adventurous and daring in their choice of artists. I congratulate Richard Deacon, Merlin James and Heather & Ivan Morison who are continuing this tradition.”

The Wales exhibition at the Ex-Birreria Giudecca featuring new work by Richard Deacon, Merlin James and Heather & Ivan Morison will open to the public on Sunday June 10th.
