![]() The programme is an invaluable resource for teachers, youth groups, community groups and organisations, and can be used effectively with a diverse outreach of people. The story of ‘bad mammy’ forms the central part of the programme which consists of: Ø A performance of the play Participants engage in the story of ‘bad mammy’ by exploring inter-related issues relevant to the lives of adults and young people. The play is specifically created to support work on mental health and well being, bullying, young carers, domestic abuse, alcohol abuse, race and gender stereotyping, identity and self image. Ø A follow up exploratory workshop Participants use the characters and situations in ‘bad mammy’ to safely process their response through a professionally structured workshop. The focus of this response is to allow adults and young people to share and increase their understanding of the cause and effect of their actions. This aims to empower them to make sense of and re-evaluate their own experience. Ø Evaluation and follow up Materials Spectacle aims for participants to achieve access to, participate in, and gain ownership of this work. Follow up materials are carefully constructed to use ‘bad mammy’ as a stimulus for continuing further work on the issues raised in the programme. Spectacle has a flexible approach to the delivery of this work, and through negotiation it can be adapted to your needs.
