On Saturday 21 July Disability Arts Cymru welcomes Arts and Disability Ireland for a day of celebrating cultures and exchanging ideas.
At Chapter Arts Centre, Cardiff from 12.30 – 5.30 pm we will be launching the CD-rom version of ‘Hidden Dragons’, an anthology by disabled writers from Wales and ‘Face On, Disability Arts In Ireland and Beyond’, which explores the growth of disability arts in Ireland, featuring contributions from key thinkers and artists from the disciplines of visual art, dance, theatre, literature, film and comedy.

Maggie Hampton, Director of Disability Arts Cymru and Padraig Naughton, Director of Arts and Disability Ireland will be launching both publications along with contributors who will be reading extracts.
After lunch Welsh based writer, Kaite O’Reilly, who edited ‘Face On’ will be running a writing workshop, 'You Say Inclusive, I Say Subversive: alternative dramaturgies informed by a disability perspective.' A writing for performance workshop, looking at new narratives, structures and forms. A mixture of talk and practical exercises, considering existing scripts from disability arts and culture and imagining future ones.... What stories do we want to tell? In what new ways can we tell them?
The day will finish with a discussion panel made up of disabled artists from Wales and Ireland to discuss the similarities between the two countries in the growth of disability arts and hopefully start a dialogue as to how we can work together in the future.
