Welsh Shows at the 2007 Edinburgh fringe festival
|
"Amongst the cohort of Welsh shows opening at the Edinburgh fringe on August 2nd and running throughout the month are two old standbys and two brand new ones. 'Playing Burton' and 'Rosebud :The Lives of Orson Welles' by Cardiff author Mark Jenkins return to the Assembly Rooms, scene of the earlier triumphs. Tenby's Josh Richards re-dons the mantle as Richard Burton after a long international touring stint at the RSC with ''The Canterbury Tales' as the Miller. Christian McKay again dons the fat suit as Orson Welles after his sell-out run in New York in April in the 'Brits off Broadway' festival, which won him staggering reviews in the New York Times and Time Out-New York.
Two new eco-plays for children by David Hughes, 'The One Tree' and 'The One Sea', open simultaneously, adapted and directed by Josh Richards from Hughes' books of the same titles and produced under the banner of Christian McKay's company Atomic 80. Four shows a day, every day for a month is quite a package even for these seasoned pros! " |
