Dick Whittington

Dick Whittington Wednesday 19th December - Sunday 20th January

Are you seeking your fortune and looking for a bit of adventure? Then you must get ready for Swansea Grand Theatre's traditional Christmas presentation this year, Dick Whittington, as it promises so much and is looking like it's going to deliver... 'streets paved with gold!'. Involving a host of star names all lined up to feature in the 'starriest' cast the Grand has seen for many years!

RAY MEAGHER, from Aussie Soap 'Home and Away' plays 'King Rat', while perennial Grand favourite, KEVIN JOHNS, has been asked to 'don the dresses again' to act as Dame (Sarah the Cook). They will be joined by HANNAH WATERMAN (EastEnders & Winner of BBC's 'Just the Two of Us' with Marti Pellow) as Dick Whittington and, as Fairy Bowbells, ANNE CHARLESTON from Neighbours & Emmerdale

Hannah Waterman famously played 'Laura Beale' for over four years in the top rated popular BBC soap opera, EastEnders, before being (allegedly!) thrown down some stairs by nasty 'Janine Butcher'. Hannah is also well known to TV viewers from her regular appearances in numerous TV programmes and magazine shows.

Anne Charleston played 'Madge Mitchell', mother to Craig McLachlan and Kylie Minogue, before becoming 'Mrs Bishop' in Aussie supersoap 'Neighbours'. She has also appeared in cult TV programme 'Prisoner Cell Block H' and more recently, 'Emmerdale' as well as undertaking a host of other TV and stage work.

This is the Theatre's first production of Dick Whittington for twenty years and 'the Grand' is promising plenty of traditional, "it's behind you!" as well as hiss 'n' boo, throughout this year's fifty two performances!

And please don't think it's too early to book your tickets - over 10,000 people have done so already!!

Announcing the details today Grand Theatre General Manager said. "We believe we are offering the starriest line-up in this year's Christmas offering, Dick Whittington, coupled with other hugely talented stage performers.

The production will be featuring a fantastic, traditional Royal National Theatre set and costumes and with 2006 ticket prices held, we think this year's pantomime will prove to be a real winner"

Councillor Gerald Clement, Cabinet Member for Culture and Recreation, of the City and County of Swansea, added. "Christmas in Swansea and South West Wales would not be complete without a trip to 'the Grand' to see a traditional pantomime!

I remember seeing this pantomime when the famous Ryan and Ronnie performed it in 1973/4 in what was the longest running panto in the UK (A record this fantastic theatre still holds!) I am really looking forward to this production and I hope this year that Dick Whittington, will 'turn again' and grace the Grand stage and prove to be a hugely popular family treat!"

Ticket prices (held from 2006 prices!) are £7.00 - £17.50 with concessions available on selected performances, and are on sale now! Call the Box Office today, 01792 475715, or visit www.swanseagrand.co.uk for further information.
