Hatstand Opera are back in Gwynedd

Hatstand Opera are back in Gwynedd Hatstand Opera, one of the UK's favourite touring companies, are back in
Gwynedd in September. Following their highly successful appearance at the
Dolgellau Music Club back in March, Hatstand bring their popular show
Golden Moments from Opera to the Dragon Theatre on Tuesday 4 September,
as part of the Barmouth Arts Festival.

Golden Moments from Opera features opera you've heard on an advert - and
then some! This fun, easy way intro into opera includes airline adverts,
football songs, detective's favourite tunes, presented in a light, informal
way but with absolutely 'pukka' music. Join Hatstand Opera for the very
best hilarious scenes and heart-rending arias, where quick costume changes
and informal presentation combine with top-notch singing for a great evening
of music and laughter.

Golden Moments from Opera also features the talents of Welsh tenor Richard
Lloyd Owen, who was born in Dendigh, North Wales. He still speaks Welsh with
his Dad, despite years of living in Birmingham!

Known for their entertaining approach to opera, Hatstand Opera have
entertained packed audiences in castles, churches, National Trust
properties, village halls, art galleries, stately homes, gardens and
theatres alike. With a ‘go-anywhere’ policy, Hatstand have performed for
7000 people for the National Trust, sung under 17th century Dutch masters at
the National Gallery, broadcast live on Classic FM and featured on Radio 4,
and even shared the bill with Julio Iglesias at a vineyard in Western
Australia!

Hatstand soloists are highly experienced performers, with a special skill in
performing close-up to any audience. Hatstand's singers have worked with
most of the UK companies and many more beyond, but they return to work with
Hatstand when they can - because they love it!

"I generally prefer opera’s greatest hits, so Hatstand’s opera cabaret is
perfect. Lovely... A great success." The Guardian

“Hatstand achieved the rare feat of both moving their audience emotionally
and having them roar with laughter, often within the space of a few
minutes.” Ben Ridler, Dolgellau Music Club
