![]() Maes Terfyn by acclaimed poet and singer Gwyneth Glyn tells the tale of a young business woman from London, returning to Wales to re-learn the language. Set alongside a controversial plan to develop the local marina, Maes Terfyn is an emotional whirlwind with Welsh politics as its backdrop. Directed by Arwel Grufydd and starring Sêra Cracroft, Huw Garmon, Lauren Phillips and Dora Jones, Maes Terfyn will mark an exciting step in Gwyneth Glyn’s career as a playwright. She comments: “Maes Terfyn originated from a simple idea, which thanks to Arwel's careful guidance, grew into a politically and emotionally meaningful journey for me. The play explores the relationship between language, politics and love, and the conflict of these elements between and within individuals. I look forward to enjoying the first night performance, and I am hoping audiences will flock to see this amazing cast at work.” Maes Terfyn will be the first in-house production of the newly merged Sgript Cymru and Sherman Theatre company – recently named Sherman Cymru. Recently appointed Literary Manager at Sherman Cymru, Sian Summers says: “This is a very exciting time for Sherman Cymru and for theatre in Wales. We’re really pleased to be presenting Maes Terfyn as the first production of this new bilingual company.” Maes Terfyn will open at the Sherman Theatre on 19 – 22 September before commencing on a tour of Wales throughout September and October – for full tour details please see www.shermantheatre.co.uk Tour Dates FELINFACH: Theatr Felinfach 25 - 26 Sept 01570 470697 BANGOR: Theatr Gwynedd 28 - 29 Sept 01248 351708 PWLLHELI: Neuadd Dwyfor 2 - 3 Oct 0158 704088 HARLECH: Theatr Harlech 5 Oct 01766 780667 SWANSEA: The Grand Theatre 9 - 10 Oct 01792 475715 ABERYSTWYTH: Arts Centre 13 Oct 01970 623232 |
