Sherman Cymru Present Exciting New Season

Sherman Cymru Present Exciting New Season The company formed from the merger between Sgript Cymru and The Sherman Theatre Company has launched its first full season with a diverse programme of top theatre, dance and comedy.

The merged company, Sherman Cymru, aims to produce and present ambitious, compelling theatre and is committed to developing and championing the work of Wales and Wales based writers, and to providing opportunities for the development of emerging artists and young people. Director Chris Ricketts comments:

“The name Sherman Cymru has been chosen to both mark change and reflect our commitment to being a national company. We’re very pleased with the programme we’ve got for the Autumn and we’ve made some alterations in terms of how we look to reflect where we’re headed. We’re now in the process of rebranding and will be rolling out the company’s identity in the New Year. It’s a great time for us, and we look forward to the future.”

Sherman Cymru will present its first in-house production, Maes Terfyn, by poet and musician Gwyneth Glyn, from 19 – 22 September at the Sherman before touring throughout Wales. Sherman Cymru also present two Christmas productions – Beauty and the Beast by Charles Way on the mainstage, and The Devoted Friend, adapted and directed by Phil Clark for younger children.

The Sherman will also play host to a range of acclaimed artists and perfomers including Out of Joint, Eddie Ladd and The National Theatre, and will be continuing it’s important relationships with Theatre Genedlaethol Cymru and Clwyd Theatr Cymru with visits by both companies.

“As part of how we develop our programme we really want to build relationships with some of the UK’s leading companies whose work is rarely seen in Wales, and offer audiences a programme that both inspires and entertains.”
