Theatre Powys a spirited place to be...
|
Theatr Powys’ base in Llandrindod Wells, The Drama Centre is currently a hive of activity with two Theatre in Education (TIE) programmes Ghosted (English language) and Tu Chwith (Welsh language) out touring to children in Years 4, 5 and 6 (8 to 11 year olds) in Powys schools. The programmes have been specially devised by the Company. Ghosted also toured to Powys schools during the summer term and was extremely well received by both children and teachers. For further information about the tours please phone 01597 824444.
For 35 years Theatr Powys has produced TIE programmes and touring plays for the schools and communities of Powys and wider Wales. Young people, their engagement with the world and the role of the imagination in their development, have always been central to the artistic and educational practice of the Company.
Mid Powys Youth Theatre (MPYT) rehearsals for their celebratory 20th anniversary production are also underway this week. This year they will be performing a new adaptation of Cinderella by Wales based writer Charles Way. We are very pleased to welcome Andrew Sterry back as Director of the production. This story of Cinderella has music at its very core. Whilst we meet all of the traditional figures we have come to know and love, the play features the unprecedented appearance of court composer, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. ‘Wolfy’s’ music - both live and in full orchestral recording - intermingled with new composition, weaves the magic of the story from its lonely, desperate beginnings to its joyous conclusion.
Performances at Wyeside Arts Centre, Builth Wells from Tuesday 6 to Saturday 10 November at 8pm
Tickets £8 and £5 (concessions), Box Office: 01982 552555
