Welsh Independent Dance: New Graduate Showcase
|
Five newly graduated dancers will perform two new dance pieces by choreographers Chris Tudor and Chloe Loftus at Chapter Theatre on 26 and 27 September at 8.30pm as part of Welsh Independent Dance’s annual New Graduate Showcase.
The New Graduate scheme, now in its seventh year, offers a unique opportunity for newly graduated dance students with existing associations with Wales to build and strengthen their connections with Wales on completion of their formal dance training. The aim of the project is to enable WID, other Wales based companies and individual artists to develop relationships and to offer long-term support to Wales’ future dance artists contributing to the development of a strong, vibrant and diverse dance sector in Wales.
Eighteen graduates auditioned in August and the five dancers selected were Stacey Kiara Panico, Gwen Jones, Joanna Young, Jon Matthews and Adam Murphy. The project enables the dancers to work with two highly skilled choreographers over a three-week period and provides an opportunity to experience different approaches to dance making and performance. The project also provides basic administrative training required for freelance life.
Please show your support for this valuable project and the dancers who are about to embark on their professional careers. Tickets are FREE but must be reserved at Chapter box office on 029 20304400. Each performance will be followed by a reception at Media Point in Chapter so please feel free to come along and meet the choreographers and artists. |
