HIJINX Theatre Take The Long Way Home To Carmarthenshire Theatres
|
Wales’ foremost touring company, the renown HIJINX Theatre make their Llanelli debut at Theatr Elli, November 6, with Charles Way’s The Long Way Home.
The Long Way Home is a traditional folk tale from the heart of old Europe, brought magically to life through towering physical storytelling and music. A beautifully poignant story of friendship, danger and humour as two travellers face many hazards on their long journey. An old, recently widowed woman decides to walk home to the seaside village of her birth. This arduous journey will take her through dark woods, fertile plains and over snow-capped mountains. She encounters a young boy in the forest whose only means of communication is to bark like a dog, and the two become unlikely travelling companions. An internationally performed and acclaimed play by award-winning and prolific playwright Charles Way, The Long Way Home has toured across Europe including Croatia, Germany and Switzerland.
Hi Jinx Theatre are renown for creating performances of high tension and strong emotion. They’ve developed a strong commitment to new writing over the last 15 years, commissioning plays from many of Wales’ leading playwrights. Founded in 1981, their mission is to create high quality theatre which is accessible, entertaining and challenging for small communities throughout Wales and England. Past productions include the gripping Estella’s Fire and the moving yet humorous Seize The Day.
