The Lyric Goes Bohemian For A Night At The Opera
|
Following the success of The Bartered Bride, Carmarthenshire Theatres are delighted to welcome the return of Mid Wales Opera for their latest production, La Bohème at Carmarthen’s Lyric, 11 October.
Sung in English and translated by Amanda Holden, Giacomo Puccini’s ever-popular and romantic La Bohème is an opera in four acts. In contrast to MWO’s last production of Smetana’s lively depiction of village life, featuring bucolic characters and a colourful travelling circus, Puccini’s opera is a more intimate affair, handling the emotions of his sophisticated young Parisians. Follow the passion, laughter and heart-rending tragedy of the young bohemians, a decadent ensemble of painters, poets, musicians and philosophers, in this vibrant production. Led by a youthful, vibrant cast, the marvellous melodies, colourful characters and orchestration, plus several of opera’s best-known arias and duets combine to make this an exciting evening for audiences of all ages.
Mid Wales Opera is now firmly established as one of the foremost British touring opera companies. They’ve performed in over 90 different venues in Great Britain and abroad and are the recipients of various national awards, including two Prudential Opera Awards. Full-scale productions of major operas such as Aida, Carmen and Madame Butterfly have included international soloists from Covent Garden and the English, Welsh and Scottish National Opera companies. The specially adapted touring productions of more intimate operas have proved immensely popular in an ever-increasing number of venues.
Tickets, priced £16.50 with £13.50 concessions, are available from the box office: 0845 226 3508/09/10 |
