A Very Special Dance/Theatre Production Arrives At Ammanford

Directed by the award winning Sign Dance Collective written and produced by Charlie Kay, ‘tO BE fRAnk……’ Arts Company present Spenno’s Dance at Ammanford Miners’ Theatre, 6 October.
Autistic, learning disabled and very misunderstood; Spenno dances in a different way. You wouldn’t understand just by watching. Dismayed by an increasingly hostile world, his little sister defends and celebrates his existence. Poetic and rousing his story is told through movement, the spoken word, film and music.

‘tO BE fRAnk……’ Arts Company is Charlie Kay and Sue Griffiths. Charlie is a performance artist and Sue a visual artist. The company create and deliver cross art form performances and workshops for all ages and groups, but especially vulnerable and disabled groups. Their performance, exhibition and installation work focuses heavily on cross art form collaboration and arts in health. Charlie Kay (BA Hons Theatre) has trained and worked on a wide range of performance styles and genres, particularly specialising in physical theatre. She’s worked with directors such as John Retallack, Bill Hopkinson, organisations such as Sign Dance Collective, The University of Istanbul and Common Ground, and more recently, has become involved with cross art form collaboration. Her recent work involves the creation of installations with visual artist Sue Griffiths.
Spenno’s Dance is funded and Supported by The Arts Council of Wales, The Ucheldre Centre, Anglesey County Council and Sign Dance Collective. Music by Gorwel Owen- Wales-based producer most known for his work with Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci and Super Furry Animals.
