One of Shakespeare’s best loved comedies, Much Ado About Nothing will be performed at the Beaufort Theatre & Ballroom, Ebbw Vale on Thursday 25th October 2007.Two brothers, rival warlords, reach a fragile peace after a brutal and bloody war. Red Shift relocates the story to 1991 Yugoslavia after the Kosovo War. In this atmosphere of conflict and violence the romantic lead is revealed as feckless, the doting father betrays his child, the noble leader is reduced to a seedy seducer, and it is left up to Dogberry and his team of police-clowns to rescue simple virtue. Red Shift have an impressive track record for producing respected and acclaimed versions of Shakespearian plays from their award winning Macbeth to their hugely successful Hamlet First Cut, based on the rarely used First Quarto.
