INTIMATE AND ENGAGING WELSH DRAMA

INTIMATE AND ENGAGING WELSH DRAMA The Riverfront will be welcoming AJTC for the first time with a beautiful new adaptation of Bruce Chatwin’s award-winning novel On the Black Hill on Thursday 11 October at 7.45pm.

Performed in the intimate studio theatre, On the Black Hill will take you back 100 years and tells the extraordinary tale of twin brothers, Lewis and Benjamin Jones on their isolated upland farm called The Vision on the border of England and Wales. Spanning almost the whole of the last century the story follows the ordeal of Lewis joining the army at the time of the Great War and the rest of the family's struggle to deal with the values of the changing times through war and peace.

On the Black Hill delves into the themes of unrequited love, sexual repression, hate and social values of the era. Accompanied by live music, the production features the superlative acting from AJTC and a stunning cello score played live by Hattie Bennett.

On the Black Hill will only be here for one night, so make sure you get your tickets now and experience theatre at its best! Tickets are priced at £10 and can be booked by calling the Box Office on 01633 656757 or via our secure website www.newport.gov.uk/riverfront.

Please note that there is an Age Guide of 16+ for this performance.
