Like A Virgin Hits Ammanford
|
A powerful play full of ‘blonde ambition’, the renown Reform Theatre Company present Gordon Steele’s Like A Virgin, a hilarious romp through the bubble-gum years of teenage life, at Ammanford Miners’ Theatre, 22 November.
Angela and Maxine, two sixteen year olds, attack life with laughter, vibrancy and excitement. Playing truant from school, and inspired by their Madonna obsession, they form a band, attempt to write pop songs and try to live out their adolescent dreams of becoming famous. But there’s trouble afoot: Angela's mother, Viv, is distraught after her husband suddenly leaves her to set up home with another woman. As she struggles to come to terms with herself and her daughter's explosive lifestyle, a volatile and loving relationship develops as the two grow to appreciate each other's very different needs. Tackling hope, sex, driving ambition, despair and most of all love, this rib-achingly funny yet heart-wrenching play will take you on a roller-coaster of emotions.
Tickets, priced £7 with £5.50 concessions, are available from the box office: 0845 226 3508/09/10 |
