Do You See What I see?

Do You See What I see? Brynamman youth theatre company Mess Up The Mess are bravely going where many theatre companies fear to tread – creating a play in a day - for their premier at Ammanford Miners’ Theatre, Saturday December 8. The most exciting part of this innovative project is that the cast, aged 12-20, will have only 24 HOURS to rehearse and perform the show with the support of a professional writer and theatre practitioners.

Do You See What I See? will have both the actors and audience on the edge of their seats, not least because of the gritty issues the drama tackles, but because the actors will only get to see the script and begin rehearsal work the night before the curtain goes up!

With theatre practitioner and writer Eloise Howe handling the scripts, work has already began on developing the story, which will take the form of a dark fairytale inspired by topics raised at the Carmarthenshire Annual Youth Conference at Trinity College. Exploring the overall theme of cultural diversity along with ‘stereotypes’ and attitudes towards people we are unfamiliar with, Mess Up The Mess will take you on a journey of global citizenship, crossing borders and opening minds.

This will be a live theatre performance like no other; dangerous, exhilarating and moving, Do You See What I See? will also give the audience the opportunity to have their say on the issues raised at the end of the performance.

Tickets, priced £8 with £5 concessions, are available from the box office 0845 226 3508/09/10

This offshoot project is supported by Carmarthenshire Youth Council and Youth Service and funded by Coalfields Regeneration Trust, CAVS, Communities First Trust Fund and Hidden Dragon Social Enterprise.
