Belfast Meets Wales: Academi's Literary Conference in Belfast, Northern Ireland

After many years of tension and disputes, it was definitely a long and
rocky road to devolution for both Wales and Northern Ireland. At such a
crucial and extraordinary time in the history of both nations, what can we
learn and share?

Join Academi, the Welsh National Literature Promotion Agency and Society
for Authors and the Welsh Branch of the Writersý Guild of Great Britain as
we take a Welsh perspective on Northern Irelandýs new literary dynamic.

From Friday 29 February to Sunday 2 March 2008 Belfastýs Wellington Park
Hotel will play host to a whole weekend of events exploring contemporary
issues within Welsh and Northern Irish culture. Poetry, prose, drama,
politics, broadcasting and much more will be represented in what will be a
diverse and stimulating residential conference.

Leading writers from both Wales and Northern Ireland will be taking part -
Ian Rowlands, Ciaron Carson, Martin Lynch, Gwyneth Lewis, Glenn Patterson,
Sinead Morrissey, Ifor ap Glyn and National Poet of Wales, Gwyn Thomas.
Plus prominent figures such as renowned journalist Peter Taylor who
reported from the core of the Troubles, as well as playwright Gary
Mitchell who is now living in hiding since his home in Belfast was
attacked.

Famous for conflict this northern city of Belfast is now making new waves
in an international world. Today the city is Belfast the post-modern and
Belfast the re-invented.

Join us on a bus trip around the real Belfast, encounter some real verse
read by real poets, listen to a touch of genuine northern Irish music,
eat, drink and relax in good company.

Tickets cost just £210 or £190 for Academi Members and Associates. This
fantastic package includes two nights' accommodation at the Wellington
Park Hotel, all lectures and workshops plus all meals. Places are limited
so book early to avoid disappointment and to take advantage of cheap
offers on flights. If you require information on getting to Belfast,
