![]() Beauty and the Beast, by playwright Charles Way, will add a real spark to this well loved and classic fairytale drawing on The Sherman’s previous traditions of engaging and thrilling Christmas productions for all ages. The show will be set in Wales, whilst going back to the heart of the original French fairytale and the tale of one young girl sacrificing her freedom, and entering the beast’s castle in a world where dreams are dashed, love is tested to the limits and a single rose can change her fate forever. Director Dave Bond comments: “There have been many versions of Beauty and the Beast on both stage and screen but we’re hoping we’ll bring a real spark to this classic fairytale. We’ve got a magnificent set and costumes and will be using some trickery and magic – It’s going to be something that both children and adults will enjoy." Beauty and the Beast will be an exciting Christmas production for Sherman Cymru – formed from the merger of Sgript Cymru and the Sherman Theatre Company. Directed by Dave Bond, Head of Acting at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, the show will incorporate dance, music and trickery along with an impressive, gothic set to produce an evocative, edgy and magical production. Beauty and the Beast runs opens on Friday 30 November and runs until Saturday 12 January. Tickets start from £8 for children and the show is recommended for ages 7+.
