Forget Panto - This Christmas Frantic Theatre Co can perform live in your own living room… |
![]() The difference with Frantic is that they perform in peoples own front rooms and places of work. The originality of this intimate experience has been described by audiences variously as ‘like a breath of fresh air’, ‘brilliant’, ‘exhilarating’, ‘had everyone in stitches’, and basically, completely unlike any other theatrical experience they’ve witnessed. From coffee morning shows for a few close friends, to a lunchtime concert in a works canteen or meeting room, to a full-blown soiree or family get-together in the evening, each 45 minute show can fit in anywhere space-wise (no room too small), from humble lounge to spacious palace. Frantic’s dedicated mission is to take the very best live professional theatre into the heart of peoples’ everyday lives, and to ‘make something special happen’ wherever they find themselves. The shows themselves are in a style which has been carefully crafted over many years by the company and which they have termed ‘New Time Music Hall’, an inspired collage of ‘traditional’ forms of musical theatre & vaudeville performed with the sensibility of the most cutting edge comedy & improvisation. ‘New Time Music Hall’ takes liberties with the songs, skits, monologues of the past and recent past – from Gershwin to the Goons, from Marie Lloyd to Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, from Noel Coward to Tom Waits, all performed with high energy footwork, snappy costume changes, and a tour de force of quick character-work, by just one actor. The result is a truly diverse yet ‘universal’ form of musical theatre and comedy, which attempts to bridge cultural divides and age gaps. No crudity or offensive material required - just the highest calibre acting and singing, in a seamless and thought-provoking spectacle designed to take people out of themselves and give them a thoroughly good time. The company have developed this concept of ‘In-House Theatre’ in over 15 years of performing non-stop tours of the UK & Ireland. Purely from ‘word-of-mouth’ their reputation has grown exponentially, and to date nearly 10,000 performances have taken place in venues as eclectic as front rooms, stately homes, homeless centres, offices, & gardens, as well as the more commonplace theatres, village halls, arts centres, schools, and comedy clubs. Having never officially ‘launched’ their work before, and having enjoyed a ‘cult’ status amongst those ‘in the know’, they feel ready, willing and able to let the widest possible public know about their performances, and the exciting and unusual possibility of hosting a show in your own house. If everyone’s home is now their castle, Frantic wish to be the court jesters. The fee per performance is £250+VAT at any time (subject to availability), or just £150+VAT if it can be booked to coincide with their official UK-wide touring schedule (see Notes below). Frantic reach every region of the UK for at least a week every six months as part of this schedule, and produce a brand new show each time. Bonnie Greer in Time Out referred to Frantic’s performances as having an “anarchic beauty”, The Stage have called them “highly original”, The Big Issue said Frantic’s work was “truly inspired”, whilst The Irish Post wrote that “bellylaughs [were] guaranteed”. Frantic have literally thousands of ‘reviews’ from individual venues also available. |
