Star at St Donats

The distinguished actor, Robert Powell will be joined by Joanna David to present a show evoking the humour and the pathos of Victorian life at St Donats Arts Centre on Saturday 8th December at 7.30pm.
The two well-known performers will invite the audience into the worlds of Charles Dickens, Rudyard Kipling and Thomas Hardy as well as the homely delights of Mrs. Beeton and Mrs. Gaskell.
This promises to be a hugely enjoyable evening of poems, prose, letters and journals. These enchanting readings will be accompanied by seasonal music from Clive Conway on flute and Christine Croshaw on piano.
Robert Powell has enjoyed a varied career in theatre, film and television. He first came to prominence in 1977 when he won the lead role in Franco Zeffirelli's controversial film Jesus Of Nazareth for which he received a BAFTA nomination and TV Times Best Actor Award. Robert is best known to television audiences as Jasper Carrot's sidekick Dave Brigg's in the comedy series The Detectives and for his regular appearances in Holby City.
Joanna David has starred in numerous costume dramas including Rebecca, Sense & Sensibility and most recently the BBC's adaptation of Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice, in which she played Mrs Gardener. She has also appeared in Inspector Morse, The Darling Buds of May and A Touch of Frost. Joanna is also an experienced broadcaster for BBC Radio and has had an extremely successful stage career.
