![]() These performances form part of the Dan y Pared sessions which aim to introduce WMC’s audience to the Welsh music scene and feature the very best, as well as up and coming artists all free of charge. Chief Executive of Wales Millennium Centre Judith Isherwood explains, “A great deal of Welsh speakers now live in Wales’ capital and will be able to enjoy a free Welsh language performance during their lunch hour, however, you don’t have to speak the language to appreciate the music. Everyone is welcome and performances are completely free.” The first performance to make its way on the Tesco Stage under the Dan y Pared umbrella will be Steve Eaves this Saturday 26 January at 1pm. Born in 1952, Steve Eaves lived in various parts of North Wales but spent most of his time in the Bangor area. The blues style is apparent in his songs and singers such as Muddy Waters, Bo Diddley, Leadbelly and John Lee Hooker have been a major influence on him. The next performance to take to the Tesco Stage will be Cate le Bon on Friday 15 February, who used to be with the band Alcatraz. At 24 she has completed her debut album “Pet Deaths” - an eclectic mix of songs taking you through harmonious landscapes with beautiful violins and melodic guitar parts, then a trip down darker lanes with layers of guitar creating tense jagged songs all this topped with Cate Le Bon's howling vocals. On Saturday 29 March, Rhys Edwards who is originally from Llangefni - better known as Jakokoyak, will take to the stage. Rhys began seriously recording music while at university in Aberystwyth and Bangor. Working alone, he was free to experiment with sounds, and sometime soon after Jakokoyak was born.
