A giant play for little people launches Theatr na n’Ogs 25th Anniversary year

Me a Giant, a musical play for 5-7yr olds, based on the well known tale of Jack and the beanstalk (but with a typical na n’Og twist) has already been booked by 163 classes in SW Wales and with a tour to 10 theatres, from Birmingham Repertory Theatre, The Sherman Theatre to The Torch Theatre at Milford Haven, Theatre na n’Og look like starting their season at Grand Slam speed.
Geinor Styles, Artistic Director of na n’Og said,” it’s a brilliant anniversary start for us, the phone is ringing non stop with bookings”. Geinor puts this huge interest down to na n’ogs reputation for exquisite theatre for young people. For ‘Me a Giant’, Theatr na n’og have brought together a hugely professional team. From BAFTA award nominee writer, Roger Williams, Associate Director Phylip Harries, who recently played Bottom at Theatr Clwyd and Music Director Greg Palmer, credited with over 80 music theatre productions.
The show which is toured in both English and Welsh, features home grown welsh acting talent with cast, Aled Herbert -Ystradgynlais, Nadine Beaton- Bridgend and Alun Saunders from Neath.
One of the highlights of the theatre part of the tour, and a first for na n’Og, are six performances at The Botanical Gardens in Carmarthen. Geinor said “we have been speaking with The Botanical Gardens for some time and are delighted to have created an ongoing creative relationship with them. As with our work with Swansea museum and the additional skills they bring to our performances and workshops, so will the gardens with an exciting array of botanic workshops running alongside our production”. Geinor said, “ whilst we cannot promise that the Gardens will be planting magic seeds with the children, we can certainly say they will have a “giant fun time”
