Theatr Iolo supporting development of theatre for Babies and Toddlers |
Having won an Arts Council Creative Wales Award to explore theatre for babies and toddlers, Sarah Argent packed her bags and headed for Italy and Germany, where she shared practice with other artistic directors and developed ideas for work for this very young age-group.On her return, she leapt into a week-long workshop with performers Hannah McPake, Kevin Lewis and Jak Poore, working closely with lighting designer Ace McCarron and designer Charlotte Neville to develop mesmerising fragments of theatre which were then presented to babies, toddlers and their mums and dads. Later this year, Sarah will be putting this development work to good use by creating a show for under 3s courtesy of a Seeding Fund grant from Small Size, the European Network for the Diffusion of Performing Arts for Early Years. The show will be showcased at both Polka Theatre, London and the Take Off Festival in Darlington during 2008 and will tour in 2009. |
