GRAVITAS - The human and personal reaction to war

GRAVITAS - The human and personal reaction to war Earthfall, the award-winning physical theatre/dance company from Wales, will perform Gravitas at The Riverfront on Thursday 24 April at 7.30pm.

GRAVITAS, pursues the captor and the captured, the powerful and the powerless, the censor and the censored, based on testimonies of soldiers and prisoners, in a personal reaction to humans in war. Earthfall explores the paradox of freedom of speech and the nature of power and protest.

With a company of eight performers, the production careers through Earthfall’s trademark ingredients of live music, film, and dark humour as the choreography journeys from the perilous to the poetic. Fuelled by the music of our time, and influenced by the works of Banksy and Kenneth H Brown, this is Earthfall at their most profound and cutting edge.

Director, Jim Ennis said of the new work “we decided to immerse ourselves in an urban ‘no mans land’ where our interactions, our dances, words, live music, images, and relationships continuously explode and implode then settle to reflect events from our personal histories and our reactions to global events from Guantanamo to Iraq... we have pushed ourselves with diverse music and physical provocations as we continue to pursue our notion of politics relationships and choreography... our 'Choreopolitik' !”

This new company for 2008 features live music by Sion Orgon and Frank Naughton, and a set designed by Mike Brookes.
