ORBIT THEATRE ARE DOING THE LAMBETH WALK (OI!) ALL THE WAY TO THE NEW

ORBIT THEATRE ARE DOING THE LAMBETH WALK (OI!) ALL THE WAY TO THE NEW Eleven years after they first entertained audiences with their production of Me and My Girl, Cardiff’s Orbit Theatre returns to the New with a brand new production of the classic family favourite. Following on from their sensational sold out production of Disney’s High School Musical last year, Orbit Theatre brings “the happiest show in town” to the New Theatre from Tuesday 13 to Saturday 17 May.

Set in London, this joyful and uplifting show is the story of cockney Bill Snibson who discovers he is in line to become the next Earl of Hareford. To inherit the title and family fortune, Bill must first win the approval of his astonished family. When society gold-digger Jacqueline sets her sights on him, Sally, Bill’s girlfriend from the East End finds herself out in the cold. The question remains whether Bill can see through Jacqueline’s scheme, win Sally back and inherit what is rightfully his.

Bursting with vintage Noel Gay songs, Me and My Girl includes The Lambeth Walk, Leaning on a Lamppost, The Sun Has Got His Hat On and, of course, Me and My Girl.

Directing the show is John Walsh, who, having played the lead role in Orbit’s production eleven years ago, is perfectly qualified to take the helm. Also returning to the production, albeit in different roles, are Orbit’s Nia Collier as Lady Jacqueline (Sally in the last production), and Linda Coombs who is going from playing Lady Jacqueline to Lady Battersbea in this latest production.

Orbit Theatre was formed in 1968 and premiered their first production, the Welsh premiere of Oliver!, at the New Theatre in 1969. Their other successes at the New over the years include, Fiddler on the Roof, Oklahoma, The Sound of Music and Fame the Musical.

Me and My Girl is at the New Theatre, Cardiff from Tuesday 13 – Saturday 17 May with evening performances at 7.30pm and Thursday and Saturday matinees at 2.30pm. Tickets range from £7.50 - £17 and can booked via the Box Office on 029 2087 8889 or online* at www.newtheatrecardiff.co.uk.
